When we were approached by the creative owners of this hilltop home high above Nyack, we knew that the collaboration would yield rich results. But thanks to the early design input and elegant execution of frequent collaborator Rowan Woodwork, the sophistication of the resulting project far exceeded our expectations. Central to the program was an expansion of the kitchen and a departure from its rustic atmosphere to something more sleek and refined. We were also tasked with opening the primary bathroom to more light and reconfiguring the previously cramped entry to the house, connecting the isolated interior spaces to the verdant site. Deciding on a material palette that would modernize these spaces while simultaneously respecting the existing rustic details of the house was a challenge we met head-on with Rowan, and we are thrilled with the result.
