THE BEAUTY PARLOR

Relocated from a former, cramped space, this salon expanded and moved into the same building as MLA, overlooking the Hudson River. MLA balanced the industrial character of the existing space with the strong Beauty Parlor brand, providing the required full height mirrors and stylist workstations without making them too visually heavy. Custom designed steel frameworks support the edge-to-edge mirrors and provide all required storage at each station.  Steel-and-glass windows celebrate the sweeping Hudson River views, however, meeting the climate-control needs of a busy salon in a space with large western-facing windows proved challenging, particularly without cluttering the ceiling with equipment.  Careful coordination with the mechanical engineer and interior designer produced the cleanest, most efficient bustling salon.
