MLA Smarthome

The Eigth Steps to Owning an MLA SmartHome

  1. Site

If you already have a building site, schedule a meeting there with us. If you haven’t yet chosen a site, we can help you with the selection process by walking the land with you, discussing its characteristics, and making recommendations.
  2. Programming

MLA will consult with you to outline the various spaces that you will need in your home. Individual site conditions and any special requirements will also be taken into account.
  3. Budget and Financing

MLA will establish a budget with you to help obtain financing. The cost estimate will include design fees, delivery and construction costs, and on-site finishing work, along with any other services required.
  4. Design

Based on detailed analysis of your building site, needs and goals, MLA will customize the Smarthome to make it uniquely yours. With your input, the design will be refined and adjusted until the plan is a functional work of art. We will meet with you consistently throughout the entire process to insure that your Smarthome is right for you.
  5. Construction Documents, Final Pricing, Bidding and Contracts

After the design has been finalized, we will submit a cohesive set of construction documents to your local authorities for a building permit. MLA will then help you finalize pricing and structure agreements with the contractor and the modular factory before construction begins.
  6. Construction

While the site, foundation and utilities are being prepared by your contractor, the prefab modules for your MLA Smarthome will be constructed in the factory. After 6-8 weeks, the completed modules will be shipped and set into place on top of the foundation. The modular units are then “buttoned up”; connections are made, seams are closed and utilities are connected.
  7. Finishes and Site work

The amount of work remaining after the modules are set varies from project to project and depends on the choices for finishes, fixtures, millwork and equipment. Your local contractor will finalize the construction of the house with the installation of these elements, along with any optional site work, landscaping, porch, deck, or pool.
  8. Final Inspection

After your completed MLA Smarthome has been inspected and approved by the local building inspector, you are ready to move in and enjoy smart living!
